What We're Talking About This Week

Beyoncé has been killing it lately, stealing the spotlight from her recent collaborator Coldplay during the Super Bowl halftime show and releasing her politically provocative Formation video.  We have been loving her latest tracks, but now we are also obsessing over what the lady herself is listening to - she created this phenomenal playlist for Vogue.

Cinespia has done some really amazing Valentine's Day shows over the past few years, and we are super excited for their Moulin Rouge screening at the beautiful Los Angeles Theatre in DTLA's historic Theater District.  Attendees are encouraged to dress up, with jackets and ties being compulsory for men.

This weekend concludes the Santa Barbara Film Festival, and there are still several movies and events leading up to Saturday's closing film, Xavier Giannoli's Marguerite.

Mendocino County is a great last minute getaway from San Francisco, especially on a long weekend such as this.  It can be cozy and romantic or full of nature hikes and friendship, or a little bit of both.  This post is a great reminder to make our way north ASAP.

What We're Talking About This Week

Brad Pitt in Fight Club
This is an AMAZING weekend for one of our favorite recurring LA events, Cinespia.  This weekend's outdoor movie screenings in Hollywood Forever are Grindhouse on Friday and Fight Club on Saturday.

San Francisco's Chinatown has had a varied history since its inception in 1848, and has been hugely influential on Chinese food in America.  We look forward to exploring it more through the regional dishes on this list.

Starbucks bought local San Francisco bakery chain La Boulange in 2012 to get their French pastry recipes into Starbucks stores nationwide.  Now the coffee company is systematically closing La Boulange locations, breaking the hearts of many Bay Areans.

Apple made their big new product announcements this week, and while we can't wait for the taco emoji and rose gold iPhone, nothing got as as excited as the Hermès Apple watch.  It's going right to the top of our Christmas wishlist...

Dungeness crab season has begun!
For many people Labor Day signifies the end of summer, but here in California it's just a long weekend - we'll be enjoying warm weather well into October.  However, we are looking forward to the new batch of fresh ingredients that are in season this month.

What We're Talking About This Week

San Francisco is having a coffee shop explosion, featuring both strong roasts and amazing interior design.  We can't wait to finish crossing off all of the spots on this list.

We love this interactive guide to America's incredible sandwich varieties.  We have a big soft spot for anything featuring avocado, so we're partial to the Californian option pictured.

Cinespia is an incredible LA experience, a movie screening set up outdoors at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.  This weekend they're showing The Godfather, which is always worth re-watching...  Unfortunately it's sold out, but you can check out their calendar for more upcoming features, including two of our favorites: Mulholland Drive and Vertigo.

If you follow our site, you know we were excited for Target's Lilly Pulitzer collection.  Unfortunately, due to high demand and low inventory, we missed out on the items.  This article helps explain how the collection was great for Lilly and not so great for Target.

We had major childhood crushes on Uncle Jesse, so this story cracked us up!
