Fashionable Film: Her

Oscar nominee Her is a truly beautiful film.  Written and directed by Spize Jonze, it is beautiful in its words and performances, and beautiful in its costume and set design.  It's visually stunning, set in a futuristic version of Los Angeles - it was shot in both Los Angeles and Shanghai to give the sense of a city that's more built up, and a blue sky is almost never seen.  But the film uses many other saturated colors, in pastels and shades of red.  Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams, Rooney Mara, Olivia Wilde, and Scarlett Johansson's voice all give amazing performances, while looking sun dappled and naturally lovely in Jonze's version of the future

Oscar Party: Her

The countdown to the Oscars is on! We've picked a few of our favorite best picture nominees and put together themed parties that we'll be sharing with you over the next few weeks. This was an especially strong year for film, so we haven't decided on who we think should win the big awards yet, but Her was very well done, both from a storyline perspective as well as visually.
