Recipe: Turmeric Tonic


It's definitely that time of year when we are all feeling a little run down... Winter colds and flus are a worry, and have had us running to our local juice shop for various health elixirs.  But at $4 a pop, we knew there had to be a better way.  This Turmeric Tonic is incredibly easy to make, offers the same benefits as many storebought remedies, and is a fraction of the price.  If it's too strong tasting for you, you can add a little honey, coconut sugar, or agave syrup to taste.

Ingredients:

2 teaspoons of powdered turmeric
The juice of 2 lemons (preferably organic)
The juice of half an orange (preferable organic)
3 cups of water

Combine all of the ingredients in a liter sized bottle or jar.  Shake well to combine.

Refrigerate for up to 10 days.  Serve in two ounce portions.
