Cole Valley is one of our favorite San Francisco neighborhoods, and one of our very favorite places to go there is The Ice Cream Bar, a throwback, 1930s style soda fountain right on Cole Street. The Bar carries a variety of delicious sandwiches and soups, and an incredible assortment of homemade sodas and sweet drinks - both alcoholic and non (we love the Brown Label Berry Fizz and their sassafras root beer blend). But ice cream is obviously always a great choice, especially when it comes as part of their Banana Split. Normally made with vanilla, milk chocolate, and strawberry ice creams (we opted to switch out vanilla for honey - flavors change daily), and topped with hot fudge, raspberry sauce, and butterscotch, whipped cream, slivered almonds, and caramelized bananas, this is quite possibly the best Banana Split of all time.
