Foodie Favorite: The Roasted Little Farm Potatoes at SHED

Healdsburg's SHED has a number of amazing, locally sourced, and farm fresh items on their menu, but one of our favorites is the Roasted Little Farm Potatoes, served on a board with tomato sauce, garlic aioli, and herbs.  The dish's presentation is stunning, and it's a great California cuisine play on the traditional Spanish patatas bravas.  The tomato sauce has a bit of spice, and pairs perfctly with the tangy, garlicky aoili and fresh mixed herbs.  This is one of the rare restaurant dishes that's worth the drive to eat again, but also something we could attempt as home cooks.  We look forward to eating it, one way or another, many times in the future.

Fashion Inspiration: Sonoma Wine Tasting

With the weather being so fabulous lately, we are craving a trip up to Sonoma for a day of wine tasting.  

Inspired by this fantastic photo, here is what we'd wear.

Day Trip - Bodega Bay

One of our favorite places to go when we are craving a cooler beach day is the West Marin-Sonoma Coast.  Breezy and foggy most of the time, this stunningly beautiful area is wonderful for long beach walks followed by cozy cups of hot tea.  There are many adorable little towns along the coast, but we especially love going to Bodega Bay, right on the county lines, and the location of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds.  We definitely bundle up more than Tippi Hedren's character Melanie Daniels did, and always have a much more pleasant visit.

Ansel Adams was also a fan of Bodega Bay, and famously shot its little white church.

Terrapin Creek is a great lunch spot, or you could always just stop in to the local for a grilled cheese 

There's no better way to end the day than by watching the sun set over the dunes.  Hopefully it will clear up for you!

One of the greatest parts about living in the Bay Area is how close we are to wine country. 

While we usually head to Napa, sometimes it's nice to go to Sonoma for a less pretentious 

wine tasting experience. Benzinger is one of our favorite Sonoma wineries. They provide a

 tour by tram of the vineyard, fermenting area and wine storage cave, and then allow you to 

taste a wide selection of their wines. They are also very knowledgeable about the 

whole wine making process and are not only organic, they are biodynamic.
