1 stick of butter
6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
1 10 ounce bag of mini marshmallows
1 teaspoon good quality sea salt
1/4 teaspoon maldon sea salt flakes (optional)
In a saucepan large enough to hold all of the ingredients, begin to melt the butter over low heat. Stir it often, and allow it to liquefy, foam slightly, and turn brown - once the color turns, take the pan off the heat right away so it doesn't burn.
Add the marshmallows - the heat from the butter should be enough to melt them.
Once the marshmallows melt, add the sea salt and cereal.
After everything is mixed, place it in a buttered, 8 inch square baking dish, and use a spatula or clean hands to distribute the mixture evenly. Sprinkle the Maldon salt over the top if using, and allow to cool at room temperature for about an hour.
