It's New Year's Eve - always the perfect time for a new cocktail recipe, or a return to a classic. Whether you're celebrating out on the town, or with a quiet evening at home, a champagne cocktail can make the usual bubbly toast a bit more exciting - or can make use of any leftovers for brunch on New Year's Day! The second, classic recipe uses brandy and can be prepped in advance, with the champagne poured at the last moment.
Cocktail #1
In a champagne glass add:
1 ounce of elderflower liqueur, such as St. Germain
Champagne to fill the glass
Garnish with a lemon twist
Cocktail #2
In a champagne glass add:
1 sugar cube, preferably brown or raw
2-3 dashes of Angostura bitters
1 ounce of your best brandy
Champagne to fill the glass
Garnish with an orange peel or pomegranate seeds
Cheers!
