Scent of the Month

This month's scent is Roses de ChloƩ described as 'an invitation to grace. Luminous and subtle, it ... exudes an immediate and incredible freshness, derived from the top note bergamot. This sensation is gradually joined by a heart of Damascena rose essence, modernized with a magnolia accord. The trail on the skin is of white musk and amber.'

Fashionable Film: The Wolf of Wall Street

The Wolf of Wall Street celebrates the excess of the late eighties and early nineties in slick yet opulent style.  From Leonardo DiCaprio's character Jordan Belfort's impeccable suits and leisure-wear, to Jonah Hill as Belfort's Jewish sidekick who's attempting to look WASP-y, the movie covers a variety of men's fashion extremely well.  And Margot Robbie, as Belfort's stunning second wife, makes us ready for the 90s revival that's been hitting the runways recently.

Oscar Party - American Hustle

Our final Oscar Party is for American Hustle. Play up the glitz and glamour of the disco era with metallics and textures like leather and snakeskin. Encourage guests to dress as their favorite character (see our fashion inspiration here) and have tools on hand (beard oil, curlers) to further aid their transformations.

Fall 2014 Milan Fashion Week Recap

Fall 2014 Ready to Wear Fashion just wrapped up in Milan. Here are some of our favorite looks from the runway.
Stella Jean

Philipp Plein

Marco de Vincenzo

Salvatore Ferragamo

Bally

Dolce & Gabbana

Marni

Pucci

McQ

Versace

Cavalli

Fendi

Etro

Prada

Bottega Veneta

Emporio Armani

Gucci

Max Mara

Alberta Ferretti

We saw a lot of tweeds and metallics, as one would expect in Fall collections, but there were also
some amazing patterns and accessories. Booties were still very popular, but we saw a lot of
over-the-knee boots as well. There were some seventies influences with clothing cuts and colors,
but also nineties tailoring and simplicity as well. Overall we felt inspired, and can't wait to see how
Paris brings Fall RTW to a close this week.

And although we aren't craving any of the pieces from this collection, Moschino deserves mention for it's over the top embrace of pop culture.

Favorite Beach: Kehoe

Kehoe Beach is a beautiful part of the Point Reyes National Seashore.  One of the few beaches in the park that allow dogs, it's great for a walk on a relaxed day with your favorite four legged friends.  The beach doesn't have very much parking, and it is accessed by a ten minute walk through flat fields - you might see a hawk or two on the way.  Once you're there, the beach is long, and very walkable, and has the benefit of being less windy than many beaches in the area.  It's a great place to spend an hour or two, well worth the drive.

Fashionable Film: Blue Jasmine

Cate Blanchett is fantastic as the emotionally unstable titular character in Blue Jasmine, and looks fabulous through every breakdown.  Her wardrobe is brilliantly curated, using beautiful, classic pieces, which she clings to even as her fortunes diminish.  Set in our hometown of Marin County and San Francisco, with flashbacks to her earlier life in New York City, this film is also never short on stunning locations.  We will be rooting for Cate at the Oscars, and copying her looks in the meantime.
